About me
I’m Nicola Meda, a psychiatrist and neuroscience PhD candidate at the University of Padua, Italy. I deal with all the main mental health problems, such as anxiety and insomnia, with a particular focus on bipolar disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and suicide risk.
My training is both clinical and research-based. In addition to my specialisation in psychiatry, I trained in cognitive-behavioural therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have published over twenty studies in international scientific journals, I coordinate multicentre research projects on suicide prevention, and I am a member of the Suicide Prevention Task Force of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders.
In practice, a significant part of my work involves testing whether what I study in research actually works in everyday life.
The care I offer is collaborative: I explain the diagnosis, present the available therapeutic options along with their efficacy and safety data, and I am transparent in defining a therapeutic path that leads to greater mental and physical well-being.
I believe every patient has the right to understand their diagnosis, the rationale behind the proposed treatment, and to receive honest answers — especially when those answers are not easy to give.
